Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

Account: email, name (optional) and password — the password is stored irreversibly hashed, never in readable form.

Usage: movies you mark as favorite, watchlist or watched, your ratings, results of games, the daily challenge, polls and movie nights, and your achievements.

Social: your public nickname, friend requests, friends, blocks and any reports you submit.

App: if you turn on push reminders, we store the device token, language, time zone and reminder hour.

Technical: your IP address and the time of login and signup attempts (to limit abuse; deleted after about a day), and normal server logs (IP, browser, pages visited).

2. Cookies and storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a cookie with your chosen language. On the website we also store your best quiz streak in your browser. In the app, the session is kept in the device’s secure storage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

3. What we use it for

To make the service work (sign-in, lists, recommendations, games, friend leaderboards, reminders), keep it secure, prevent abuse, review reports and improve Movmania. We do not sell or rent your data.

4. Who data is shared with

Friends: only people you accept as friends can see your nickname, display name and leaderboard scores. Your email is never shown.

Providers that make the service possible: server hosting (OVHcloud, Canada), DNS and network (Cloudflare), delivery of system emails (for example password recovery) and, in the app, Expo’s push notification service.

Third-party content: poster and photo images are loaded directly from TMDB (image.tmdb.org) and trailers from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode); those services may see your IP address when you open those pages.

Authorities: if required by law.

If we ever show ads, this policy will be updated first and we will let you know.

5. How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. When you delete it (the "Account" page) we remove your personal data, lists, ratings, results and friendships. Reports may be kept without your personal data to protect other users. Backups may take a little while to stop containing the data.

6. Your rights

You can access and correct your data on the "Account" page, delete your account whenever you want, and ask for any information or clarification by email: contato@movmania.com. You may also request a copy of your data or object to how it is used.

7. Children

Movmania is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child created an account, tell us so we can delete it.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, limits against break-in attempts and restricted server access. No system is 100% secure; if an incident affects your data we will notify you as required by law.
