En Kioto, Nio es un niño que trabaja en un restaurante con la familia que lo adoptó. Un día, llegan dos hombres sospechosos que cambian su forma de ver el mundo.
2Un mundo en el que se puede llorar
Nio finalmente conoce al resto de los Miburo, pero aún no tiene muy claro qué es la justicia ni qué es lo que debería significar para él ni cómo aplicarla para cumplir su cometido de crear un mundo mejor.
3Donde mora el alma
Nio conoce a Taro, otro niño de los Miburo que se encarga de varias tareas menores en la residencia. Sin embargo, cuando Serizawa les comunica a sus compañeros que mató a Tonouchi, Nio y Taro deberán afrontar la gran tarea de deshacerse del cadáver.
4El nombre del enemigo
El entrenamiento matutino de los Miburo anima a Nio a seguir demostrando su valía como nuevo integrante del grupo, lo cual lo lleva a competir con Saito, un chico de su edad muy diestro con la espada.
